I do like throwing 1/4oz and 3/8oz swimjigs but I use them primarily for fishing around sparse grass and rock in shallow water. The 1/2oz is more versatile and that is why it is my favorite, you can fish it a little deeper and faster and since I use swimjigs with weedguards, the 1/2oz ones then to have slitly more stout weedguards so I can throw them into heavier cover.

I like to swim hair jigs often. I use 1/8 or 1/4 for slow, steady retrieves, and 1/2, 3/4, and even 1 oz for stroking

For a swim jig, I throw a 3/8oz just about all the time. That Strike King bluegill color is just about unbeatable.

either a 3/8 or 1/2 pretty much all of the time. if it isn't one of those it is probably smaller

Re: Swim Jigs: Weight?
Even a swim jig can be really heavy and bounced or dragged on bottom. This is one of my favorite for summertime fishing techniques.
Lots of big bass are really getting the feed bag filled at every opportunity. Many have moved back out deep. This is when i either just drag the swim jig on the bottom, or pop it up. I always used a crawdad trailer.

3/4 oz for me. The heavier weight allows me to caster farther and get deeper. I even use 3/4 oz at my local ponds.
Re: Swim Jigs: Weight?
I fished A LOT of swimbaits this spring, and caught a lot of big fish doing so.
All of them were caught on a 1/2 oz. model, all in 6 FOW or less. I liked that I could use my rod postioning and reel speed to determine the depth it was swimming, and also how fast it was going.
This spring I will throw them again for sure, and will try a couple different sizes.
