Football Jigs: Weight?

Jig it, spin it, buzz it, if it's got a wire or a lead head, it can and will be discussed in here.

What's your favorite size(s) of football jig to fish, and where/how do you normally fish them?

I fish 1/2oz up to about 12 ft deep, 3/4oz if it is deeper than that.

I regularly fish 1/8 to 1 oz footballs, but my favorites would have to be 1/2 through 1 oz for stroking. 3/4 oz pretty much does the trick with hair jigs, but 1 oz is necessary for big rubber with a trailer.

I use 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 most of the time. If I'm going real deep, I'll move up to a 1oz. I fish a lot of deep reservoir type lakes so these sizes work best for me. I go as heavy as I can get away with.

3/4oz is what I use most of the time for all water depths.

Fishing up in the northern part of the CA Delta there are a lot of rocks and smallies. Depth gets down pretty deep...20+ feet at some areas, but for the most part we are fishing fairly shallow from 1-10 feet...sometimes a 15 foot drop off in certain areas. I pretty much us a 1/2 oz. 99% of the time. I find it easier to cast a 1/2 oz. football and it falls at a good rate with a Yamamoto 5" DT grub.

I am a 3/4 ounce man. I like to feel what the bait is doing on the points and ledges! I probably should throw a 1/2 ounce more.

i fish deep, rocky res. throw 3/8-3/4 oz most of the time. 3/8 up to 10 ft, 1/2 up to 18 ft and 3/4 any deeper. 80% of the time i'm throwing 1/2 oz. however, i fish finesse often in my pressured nj waters and will throw 3/16 heads no weed guard w/ a cabin creek spider on it to rocks and weed edges for lazy weary bass

Where I am at 1/2 oz with trailer is as heavy as I need to be to keep bottom contact.
