Favorite skipping jig?

Jig it, spin it, buzz it, if it's got a wire or a lead head, it can and will be discussed in here.

Favorite skipping jig?

Post by bassfishin14 » Sat Oct 15, 2011 10:57 pm

Hey guys, I was wondering what some of you guys prefer for this style jig? After some backlashes and headaches I've got the technique down pretty well. I would usally just use a 1/4-3/8oz football head jig cause I didn't have pitching/flipping jigs on me. I'm guessing a flat headed jig will skip way better? I know lighter the jig helps also and trailer can make a difference.

So hit me guys with your favorite jigs for this technique! :D

I would guess that one of the flat headed swim jigs that I've seen on TW would be great for skipping, but there's not any jig in my arsenal 1/2 or under that I wouldn't skip when the opportunity knocks. I use mostly brush heads, poison tail heads and footballs. Flat plastic trailers can help a lot, but are definitely not necessary. Skipping jigs while I'm floating down small rivers and creeks is my #1 favorite technique!

I use Cooch's Wadda Jigs by TNT Baits. The head design makes it easy to skip. I've been fishing these jigs for a few years and love them.

The Jewel Eakins flippin jig skips very well. It's also a great brush jig.
