What knot do you use to tie jigs?
I find that using the Palomar creates some problems when I'm rushed...they skirt strands get into the knot.
I tried the San Diego jam knot, but it's not as convenient as I would like.
So...what knot do you use???
Thanks much.
Fred

Hi Fred,
http://vlad.mi.ru/txt/gqs/tuna.htm .
The more turns the better, the more tight the better. I use it for many years, only. With 10+ turns not less 70% for new line, and it does not get tired, i.e. for a well used line the digit tends to 100%... and more
Just for braids, not for mono, for mono I prefer another knots.

Thank you Vlad...
My wife is from Volgograd, and I will ask her to read the instructions. She's been in the USA for about 10 years.
I fished in the Volga and Don Rivers in 2009.

I remember.
It's good that you wasn't come last year. All summer was terrible heat, fire, smoke, drought, drying up rivers.
This year will probably be even "funnier". Next in line we have - a flood. The average thickness of snow more than a meter, it's much more than usually...

I started using the san diego jam knot for everything and it works great, and with practice it will be very convenient.

I really like the Miller knot that Tackle Tog feature along with the Albright knot last year.

Cause i am using braided line palomar for me.
Re: What knot do you use to tie jigs?
I use a Palomar 100% of the time whether it`s mono, braid or fluoro. Never a problem.
Re: What knot do you use to tie jigs?
I don't tie knots that are convenient, I tie knots that I have confidence in and will get the job done. For jigs I will almost always tie a double san diego.

Re: What knot do you use to tie jigs?
I used to tie Palomar knots but I started tying a uni knot. Both work well but the uni knot has never failed me compared to the Palormar on fluoro. That's for fluoro. For mono, I'll tie both Palomar and San Diego jam knots. For braid, the only knot I tie is Palomar.

x2 or Palomar can't go wrong with either.Mossy Oak wrote:I started using the san diego jam knot for everything and it works great, and with practice it will be very convenient.

Palomar knots for me. It's so easy and never had a problem with it.

I use the Palomar for everything now. Prior to getting back into fishing, I used the little known World's Fair knot.
Re: What knot do you use to tie jigs?
I like tying an Improved Clinch Knot for jigs or for anything on the bigger side, like size 3/0+ EWG hooks. I love the palomar knot for small hooks, snaps, and swivels, but I think creates too much tag trying to get a jig or a big hook through the loop. I don't like wasting line.
