I don't have one myself, but people on this board has that reel.
they'll probably reply to your question once they see it.
I think bundy, wandy, and a few others have this reel.
I think most everyone like it, if you're willing to pay more.

Go to Japan Tackle.com and click on Jun's recommendations for a lot of scorpion info. Specialty Tackle has them for sale for about $150. Hard to find a better reel for the money.

Another point I want to make.
It seems to me all the baitcasting reels from Curado
and above seem pretty good. Anything below, not sure,
and don't want to find out. :D
I guess as long as you don't go too cheap, you'll be all right.

Shimano scorpion. One sweet reel. Small, light, smooth. I can cast very light tackle with it. Very fast rule but great brakes. I also own daiwa tdx 103 hsdl's but selling them because they are not good as left handed reels. I did just buy a shimano castaic 200sf LH (usa) which i can't wait to use. I also bought a new kistler 6' spinnerbait rod to go with it. (they had a special).

The scorpion is much nicer aesthetically than the curado. For a few extra $ than the sf version you get better parts and a slightly smoother reel. I would not hesitate to get another one.

Len,

Be sure and post your impresions of the reel.  I hope you registered as a member of specialtytackle.com (a.k.a. fangard) so you could get free shipping.!

Now you've done it.  I have to re-arrange my Christmas present list all over again!
