New Shimano reels - (Calais and Antares)
Hey Zander,
You probably already have this in mind to do, but I would love to see the new Calais and or Antares reels reviewed and maybe compared to other super-tuned reels from different companies. You know, the whole nine yards.

Hi Shimanorules,
Great request, and yes it is in the works. We are working on getting a review up on the new Calais 100A (basically a souped up Calais with an enhance wiffle spool, new greasless support bearings, and the new high efficiency gearing.
Also coming down the pipe is the review of the Calcutta TE DC....this is the one to watch out for. This is the pinnacle of Shimano engineering....with the revolutionary digital control braking system capable of exceeding 30,000rpm...achieveing casting distances of over 290 feet in tests!
Anyway's the next 2 months should be interesting. Thanks for reading...
Tight Lines,
Zander

Shimano,
I'm curious about your Tackle Tour moniker. Do you only buy Shimano?

Reels, yes.
Rods, no.
I do have a Shimano Clarus trigger rod, but I also have two Berkely rods (Bionix 6'6" - med. and a Series One 6'6" - med./hvy.)
For the most part, I just like Shimano the best. In my opinion, their elite reels, (Calcutta, Curado, Chronarch, Calais, etc..) are just made very well.
To date, I haven't had the opportunity to use any high end Diawa reels, but I know they're probably just as good. As a matter of fact, the next reel I buy will probably be a TD-X.

When is the Calcutta TE DC comming out. If so I can hold on getting a Penn 525 Mag, and try the Calcutta TE DC for surf applications.
Thanks
