Are you fishing from shore or from a boat?
What type of fishing?
My ideal length for boat fishing would be 6'6".
From shore I can use either 6'6" or 7'.
I would have to say 6'6" would be a good length
for general fishing.

I am a beginner and just purchased myself a 6 foot rod. I have had it for around a month or so now and have been fishing from the shore. I might not be breaking casting records, but it gets out there. After all is said and done though, I think a 6.6 or 7 foot probably would have done me better as I am thinking it would have given me greater casting ability to get it out there. I was in a canoe last week end though and it worked great.

If you're fishing from a boat, I would go with Daz's suggestion
and go with a 6 or 6'6 rod. That has been working for me as well,
even from a float tube.

Anyone try revolver or round wrap style ,where the guides are positioned around the rod instead of a straight line?

You mean like this one?

http://www.tackletour.com/reviewcerr6s7.shtm

I have never used it, but before I knew what it was I thought
someone made a mistake on builidng the rod.
I do have a friend who has one, bought it when he read
the review on here, and he says it's ok. Nothing too special
for bass fishing.

They call them spiral wrap, revolver wrap, robert's wrap, so which is the right one? Or they are all legit?

They are all legit. The technique of placing guides around rods has been around for about 75 years.

I have a spinning reel and rod setup I use for general applications. It's a 6
1/2 foot rod. It has served me wellfishing from both the shore and from a rowboat.
