Powerpro vs. Stren SuperBraid

Post by gyro » Tue May 24, 2005 8:59 pm

I have always used Powerpro but today I spoke to a guy at BPS, who told me that Stren Superbraid was better. Casts farther, less digging into the spool, retains its coating longer, and is composed of 8 spectra fibers vs. 4 for Powerpro.

Has anyone tried Stren Superbraid?

I'm not really a big fan of braided line but I do think out of all the different braids I've tried (Power Pro, Super braid, Spyderwire, FireLine, and P-Line braid) Stren has the best. I think that everything the sales person told is correct.

When I first started using the Stren Super Braid, I was really impressed. That soon wore off after I used it a few times. The Super Braid seeds to degrade and will just start to break while you are in the middle of a cast.

On the other had, the first time I used PP, I did not like it. However, many on this site like it, so I figured I got a bad spool and would try it again. Since then, I have had nothing but good results with it. I have tried many braids and I believe that PP is one of the better braids.

The Tuff-Line Plus is also a good braid.
