Is this a decent combo?

I would go on a wire and say this is more than a decent combo!!! I am very impressed with Quantums PT line of rods and reels!!! Right now I own only a Catalyst PT 20 spinning reel, but I am going to purchise a PT 6'6" med rod in the near future. If the energy you are speaking about is the spinning version I think you will be exreamly happy with it, it did get a 9.3/10 in TT review!!! Quantum has made leaps and bounds in the past few years with their equipment. You will find alot of diehard quantum fans on this site so you have alot of support here. How much were you going to spend on this combo??

That's a great combo I have both those rod and reels and I'm really happy with them.

I figure on spending $250 - $280 on the combo. I did alot of research and heard some really nice things about the Quantum PT series. I am a huge fan of open bail (spinning) reels, so I think that's the combinaton I will go with.

the 30 is a little big for most fishing.....the 20 a more all around size...just make sure you get the size that you are looking for.

I have the 20 myself. I started with the 30 and it was way to big/heavy for my needs. I took everyone's advice and downsized - well worth it.

I have a Energy PTi 20 on a Tour Edition PT 7' Med. Its a great all purpose spinning combo for me and it didnt break the piggy bank. I doubt you will be dissapointed with either rod or reel, im not.
