Re: Line to use
Try Powerpro 30lb which has a diameter of 8lb mono. Good for bass who dive into heavy cover or for weeds in general. In terms of mono, I like Trilene XL for casting distance; Maxima Perfexion for knot strength; and Silver Thread Excalibur for a combination of distance and strength.
Re: Line to use
Been using Excalibur for alittle over a year now and love it. But I just returned from a week of awesome smallmouth fishing up in Maine where I spooled all my rigs with Pline, 12 & 15lb. This stuff blew me away the only downfall is the line diameter where I only see a problem getting maxium depth on your crankbaits.
I'll be sticking with Pline till something new comes out to try.

That depends. A lot of people use coplymer line for crankbaits. I've never had trouble using mono. If I'm using a deep diving crankbait, use a smaller diameter line (10-14). If I'm fishing with a minnow type jerkbait, I'll use 20 lb. line. The lighter the line, the deeper the plug will go. For most crankbait fishing I use 14 lb. Stren Easy Cast.

Re: Line to use
Fireline has been good for me and power pro are nice on my baitcasters.
The line don't hold too well in spinning reels in the 2000 series.
