Flourocarbon has a smaller diameter, so you can get away with a heavier test than fishing mono. When choosing lines, look at the line diameter on the box. Some flouros are going to have smaller and some larger, but most will be about the same. The larger the diameter, the larger the amount of drag on the water, but it is also harder for the crankbait to pull down, due to its buoyancy. For almost all my cranking I use 12 lb flourocarbon, which has the diameter of about 10 lb mono. This is perfect for most applications, unless your in some thick cover around rocks and logs.
