Good rod for Steez?

Post by Dave079 » Sat Sep 29, 2007 2:52 pm

I have been looking for a good rod to match up with my Steez. I don't want to spend $500 right now on a Steez rod. If I do choose later to do it I can find another reel to put on the new one. I will do mostly Senko fishing in my backyard pond with it. Found a good deal for $270 on a G LOOMIS BCR853. Do you guys think this will be a good match?

You can find a Daiwa Light and Tough for about a hundred bucks- $110 online. They are super light, and would complement the light weight construction of your Steez reel.

Yeah I know. I would just feel bad putting a $450 reel on a $100 rod. :(

Well, like you said if you are looking for a rod to fit the bill right now, thats not a bad investment until you pick up the new Steez rod

Yeah I know. I can do somewhere in the $300 range though. I can use that rod later for another reel when I get a Steez rod around Christmas.

You can't put a Daiwa reel on a Shimano rod! :evil22:

I went with the Major Craft Days 6'8'' MH for my Steez 100. I really love this combo, it has quickly become my favorite. The rod is stunning, very well balanced and extremely sensitive!

If I hadnt picked up the 7'1" steez, I would have gotten the GLX bcr803 or 853 myself Have someone put a split grip on that baby, lose the foregrip and that thing will be the bomb. My 2 cents. G :D

Haha I know. It would be temporary though. I still plan on getting a Steez rod in the next few months. Just need something for now that can be switched around later.

That rod is beautiful. How much and where can you get one?

Yeah I would love one in a split grip. I am really leaning towards one of the two of those right now. Hard decision between the two.

After really thinking about it I think I am going to go with the 853. Seems like a good all around size for what I will be doing with it.
