Is it just me or is the XRap..
Is it just me or is the XRap a jerkbait in a class of its own? I mean seriously.. this jerkbait catches as many and in some cases even more then expensive JDM jerkbaits for me. Is this a fish catching machine for anyone else? I love the XR-8s for ponds and XR10s for lakes.
Rapala may not have all the flash as some companys but their DT cranks and XRaps have just produced silly amounts of Bass for me since last season.

I agree 10000000000% The X-Rap is the most productive lure I have ever used, both for bass (LM and SM) and especially Pike. The action is very unique and the dressed trebles really help!
The DT series and the Shad rap are my favorite cranks as well.
Maybe it's a Michigan thing
Either way, they are my favorite, most productive, go to bait. They are much more productive than any JDM baits I have.

I agree. I have a box of JDM pieces of garbage jerk baits that I have never caught a fish with.
I like the XRaps. They work great for West Texas Fish. It may be the fish here do not understand the rattles that are in the JDM jerks.
They don't have the Cowboy slang to them.

Rapalas Rock...always have and IMO are some of the best values out there.
Pointers aren't bad though...so D.R., if you want to get rid of some of those JDM jerkbaits, PM me would ya?

I love the action of the xrap, but I haven't caught a fish with one yet. I do love rapalas and many of their other baits such as the DTs and originals and skitter pop rock!

Oh man your missing out.. some of my most aggressive jerkbait strikes have came on XRaps. Try short rapid upward jerks (key is in your wrist) with full pauses, works the most for me.islandbass wrote:I love the action of the xrap, but I haven't caught a fish with one yet. That tail just smacking their nose must piss them off to all hell. Havent had a Pike nail mine yet supriseingly but I know for sure one will, its only a matter of time. Im shocked it only recieved a 8.33 at that price, looks, dressed treble, etc.

fish never look at lure price tag before it strikes
Re: Is it just me or is the XRap..
Pike SLAM the X-Rap.
Every spring I go on a fishing trip to catch Northerns in the UP of Michigan, and I have never seen fish hit a lure harder than they hit the X-Rap. They would follow it for a bit (the water's so clear you can often see them) and then after one of the jerks, when the lure came to rest BOOM! Some were hitting it so hard they were catapulting out of the water! It was incredible.

X raps are as versatile as they are effective! Smallmouth, largemouth, crappie, chain pickeral, and stripers all blast this thing for me. When it comes to a true running, durable, and just plain effective lure out of the box, you can't beat a rapala...

Does the same go for rod and reel?Zest wrote:fish never look at lure price tag before it strikes
Re: Is it just me or is the XRap..
I'm not exactly sure this might be a colder water lure based on your locations but could be wrong. What's the water temperature during the summer in some place like Michigan?
Re: Is it just me or is the XRap..
Same for rods and reels...

I also have had great success with X-Raps. I've caught Bass, Pike and smallmouth with them as well as some summertime Browntrout as well. I would not say they catch fish at the same rate as say a Pointer, slender Pointer, Smash minnow, Squad minnow or even the BPS XPS Professional but I can say that the stand up much better than any of those baits from a finish point of view. The finish on the JDM baits, but not the Chinese BPS XPS Pros, just flakes right off even in the tackle box. Snidley
