Curado 101 or 201
Curado 101 or 201
Hey everybody I have a problem that is concerning me right now.
I am in the need for a knew reel and have narrowed it down to either a 101 or 201 Curado.
I will be using the reel mainly for pike and perch fishing in lakes and rivers. Lures weigh from 3/8 up to 2oz and the reel will be mounted onto a Olympic Graphiteleader Veloce (GLVC662MH).
Now my problem is the rod is very light (120g = 4.3oz) and I am afraid the 201 will disturb the balance while the 101 might not have enough power to reel in bigger deep diving crankbaits.
Do you guys think the 201 will be able to throw lures of only 3/8oz reasonably far or might it be possible that the 101 can haul in big lures?
Any help is appreciated.
regards,
Florian

I would go with the 201 or even 301 size for the larger lures. They will both handle the 3/8 ounce lures very well. The 101 size is pretty small and line capacity would be the main issue, unless you use braided line.

i've got the 200DSHV (7.1:1, right hand), throws lures above 1/4oz with ease. curado 200's are the only reels i will use. besides, the rod's power mainly determines the weight of lures you can throw...
shimano/powell man gone daiwa/dobyns.... zomg!

Wow!! simple-mr2...
You've got more discipline and loyalty to one reel than anyone I have ever known...good for you. Either that Curado 200 is just everything you need and covers all of the bases
OR
You've got a helluva set of blinders on.
No Bait Monkey for you!!

You have nothing to worry about. The 201 can toss lures lighter than 1/4 oz with ease. I know because I have one and have tossed this homemade inline spinner as shown in the picture below without one loop of overrun. You'll have the added benefit of line capacity and HE gearing with the 201.Florian wrote:Hey everybody I have a problem that is concerning me right now.
