Post by bitesize » Fri Mar 12, 2004 10:35 pm

Sorry, but can someone educate me on the slider method?
I have never used it and would like to learn.
Thanks!

Using the slider is not so much a method as a 'way of life'. The message is slow down, listen, watch, be prepared. Anyway. The real method is to do nothing. I am new to slider fishing and did a bunch of research. Bought the book and video, posted in other forums. What came back to me is at the most basic level it is light tackle finesse fishing mimicking baitfish. Slow and steady. Other people have different interpretations of slider fishing but the method according to charlie brewer is cast it out, let it sink to the level you want and retrieve reeeeeeeel slow. The video is also a good sleep aid. there was a number of lengthy posts on another forum called NYBASS.com. You can do a search there and come up with lots of reading and opinions.

sounds kind of boring to me. I really dont like to fish something really slow, even plastic worms i like to jerk them then let them sink then jerk them again. I am not much of a do nothing technique type of guy. That is why i like to fish topwater.

the slider method is very worth while. All you need is slider jigheads and some slider worms. It's fairly inexpensive and you can catch a lot of fish by just finessing them.
