If You Could Have ONLY One Lure for the Rest of Your Life
If You Could Have ONLY One Lure for the Rest of Your Life
I just watched a YouTube video with this topic. He said a jig, but he showed a jig and a trailer. I thought that's not one lure, a jig + a trailer. I also thought I would lose a jig easily, and I wouldn't have any more lure to use for the rest of my life.
Anyway, I thought about it. I knew the answer would be a topwater walking bait, but it was hard to pick one. Probably, Megabass Giant Dog X is my pick. What's yours?

Spro Bronzeye Frog in Black.

Oh boy...a Lucky Craft LV500 in Chartreuse Shad is what I'd probably pick.
Re: If You Could Have ONLY One Lure for the Rest of Your Life
Does it have to be a lure alone or could I pick like a 3.3" Keitech and jighead? Seems fair if you pick a jerkbait and get treble hooks, so I should be able to pick a plastic and one jighead???
If not on the plastics, I would pick a small Duo or Megabass jerkbait for lure only...

Like ONE/"1" only for the rest of our lives? We'd be HOSED...that lure would likely be lost in one outing.
Lol.
Or do you mean as many of ONE lure type or ONE EXACT lure model/weight/variations?

1/2oz spinnerbait in a golden shiner color.

I'm sure the YouTuber didn't mean ONE lure. otherwise, he wouldn't pick a jig, which could be lost easily. Either way, I would pick a topwater walking bait, because I have the most confidence in it + I wouldn't lose it as easily. In fact, I still have many topwater baits from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Ahh....so it's a YT'er...
I'm going to say that this YT'er meant it to be one type of lure, with no limit on quantity as well as having different variances. Otherwise from a pure survival standpoint, we are back to using wooden hooks and homemade wire hooks and bait, fish traps, spears, handlines, etc.
I'd go 1. Jigs + trailer (of a trailer were allowed as part of the "one" 2. minnowbaits or crankbaits from top to bottom 3. spinnerbaits
Otherwise, if it's literally just "one", and it's for survival...I'd select an electro shocking device.

I might even take a small spoon for survival. I figured we had an unlimited supply of the lure and it is just the one we have to fish with eternally.
If you get more of them, a small jig would be a high pick too.

#11F Rapala minnow, silver/black back.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

It should be good to cast and it should attract trout, perch and pike. I would say Myran Wipp 15 g.

Mapso Ory-Grub in size 3.
Golden.
Great for searun brown trout, works fantastic both up- and downstream.
Also good for many other predators and useable in lakes and salt/inshore...

I'd take... Plastic worms. If I had to narrow, I'd probably go with the OSP HD wacky or Raid Whip Crawler. I'd need terminal tackle for various rigging techniques. I feel confident that I can catch most anything in fresh water with a good ole wormy.
