I’m looking for what I can only describe as float dots, lol. Something I can add to the top of shallow diving suspending or slow sinking jerkbaits and make them slow float. Even if you don’t know of an actual fishing related product but something that would work, I’d appreciate the tips. I have a feeling I’ll be looking for the smallest bubble wrap they make and cutting tiny little bubbles off

Foam tape?

You could use lighter wire trebles, or downsize hooks by a size.

you might try palsa stick on strike indicators.

Those floating Carolina rig things shaped like bullet weights may be worth a look.

My trick darter sinks with the original hooks and there tiny. So a quality fix would be interesting to me as well.

First thing that comes to my mind is cutting strips off a foam insert sold for fly boxes. They're adhesive on one side and available in various thicknesses and foam patterns. Pricey.

Not that I've ever tested one for buoyancy.

An idea I also had and happened to have some on hand. The stuff I had absorbed water and made it sink faster, lol. Maybe a stop at the depot will yield some non-moisture absorbing foam but I’m not optimistic. Thanks

I did a google search on those and though the colors are brighter than the sun those are visually what I was thinking of. Permanent marker could mask the fluorescent colors. I may give those a try but the suggestion regarding the floating bullet weights is my first attempt...I have those on hand

I have those! Both in black and white. Probably bought them 15+ years ago. What I like about your idea is that they can easily be cut and trimmed with a razor to the size and shape I would need. I’ll do some tests this weekend and try and get test it on the water early next week.

P.s regarding hooks, I could go to #8 light wire trebles but I’d really prefer to keep the #6 G Finesse nanos or Katsuage hooks on my baits. I’ll see how much difference in grams my #8 Gamakatsus are Vs those 2 as a back up...I mean, why make this simple when I can complicate things

If you are trying to reduce weight while maintaining hook gap, consider using plugging hooks (single hook with large eye in the same plane as the bend, designed to slip into a split ring). You could probably even go up one size in gap while reducing weight.

A risk of any hook change, though, is that it might change the lure's action for the worse.

Or you could paint the lures a lighter color.

Yes, but these hooks are available in sizes down to #6, and maybe smaller.
