Megabass X-80 TD Trick Darter Jerkbaits

Post by antoniolopez944 » Fri Mar 16, 2018 8:58 pm

Anyone have any experience with these. I primarily use the 110,110 junior and the pop max. Im looking to expand my megabass collection, I feel like these will be deadly on river small mouth.

I go to the trick darter when it's not as strong of a reaction bite and/or they won't hit the 110. I've had some days with calm clear water where they won't commit to the 110 but I was able to get bites on the trick darter.

One thing to be aware of is that most of them have a slow sink versus the 110 which has a slow rise.

I only use the ones with the prop on it.

Mine was sinking as well even though it was supposed to be suspending. I got rid of it, never liked it.

The X-80 has accounted for my biggest river spot to date. 17".

Under rated and under appreciated bait:

The SW version is a solid performer for me and accounted for many good fish.

Same. Sank too fast, much more so than "slow sink"

Biggest "thing" I caught on my recent FL vacation was about a 10lb Softshell Turtle, on my only X-80 Jr. SW in Night illusion. Line snapped at the bank and I watch my beloved little lure disapear in to the murky water along with the turtle. Sad.

As you predicted, they are deadly on river smallies. However you can't beat the 110 for lakes.
