If you could have only one crankbait...

I am a jig and worm and top water guy. I have never cared much for crankbait fishing, but I need to get better at this technique. If you could have only one crankbait in your tackle box, what would it be?

Tough question as it probably depends on the depth the angler fishes the most. For me, I mostly fish shallow and I love getting on a good squarebill bite. My two favorite squarebills are the Megabass S Crank 1.2/1.5 & the PH Custom Lures Huntin' P.

I would go with a Bandit 200 if I could have only one crankbait. Seems to always catch fish for me and multiple species.

Rapala DT-6 without a doubt. There are three reasons, the first is that no matter the time of year there are always spots in that depth zone that hold fish. The second reason is that it is just as effective in colder water as it is in warmer water, it has a tight action that is somewhere in between a flat sided crank and a fat body crank. The third reason is there are colors to cover most forage species along with some muted and loud color patterns, it is one crank that covers all the bases.

I second the DT-6. It and the Bandit 200 always get bit all year, come through cover well so you can also fish them like you would a squarebill and just flat out get bit from cold to warm water all year long. But I would pick the DT-6 if I could only have one simply because its one of the best casting crankbaits out there.

Stike King 5XD. I will throw the 5XD in 1 to 20 feet of water. Lots of good crankbaits out there to chose from.

No contest- Yozuri Rattlin Vibe. Whether the water temp is 35 or 95, it will catch fish.

Same as papabassin for me, I don't fish deeper cranks much at all and I love my Megabass S-Cranks. I prefer the 1.5 size.
I'm also really liking the Ima Bill Loewen squarebill, it's a very shallow diver that works great over submerged weed beds, an area I do fish quite a lot.

I would say a Rapala DT-6 also. Great crankbait, but the ccr-08 would be a very close second for me.

I seem to recall an older thread that covered the best crankbaits...

There were many positive posts for the Lucky Craft CB100 and CB200 baits.

Then there's the craziness about the pre-Rapala Wiggle Worts....

If I could have only one crankbait, I would take a chatterbait...

I am fairly new to bass fishing in general so take this with a grain of salt. The Rapala DT-6 FireTiger will consistently catch me fish with nothing else seems to. The price is good on this so I don't stress out if I happen to lose one.

KVD 1.5 in Cataouatche Special

I know it's not Megabass or Jackall.. but it always gets em in the boat.

For 6' or less, I love the KVD 1.5 bluegill pattern. Just change the hooks.
