Megabass Vision 110 vs Lucky Craft Pointer

I have to confess. I have some jerk baits, but do not enjoy fishing them and have had limited success. I do need to get better at this technique. If you could only have one jerk bait to fish, which one would it be? Your go-to color would be nice.

Vision 110 for sure. Pointer is a good bait but the Vision 110 casts a little better, has a better hookup rate with 3 treble hooks, and has better overall action as it works great with everything from light twitches to hard rips and just flat out gets bit.

Where I fish is mostly stained water when they are on the jerkbait bite good so I like table rock shad when its overcast and GG Deadly Black Shad if there is any sun. Of course you would want different colors in clear water.

X2 on the OneTen. Pro Blue when it's clear and sunny, Elegy Bone when it's stained, and Kohoku Reaction when it's cloudy.

110. Best all around colors for me Ito Tennessee Shad and French Pearl OB. If you buy two then get Elegy Bone as your 2nd it's a great change up color.

After you jerk the bait make sure to point the rod back at the lure to give it slack. This is the #1 mistake I see people make when trying to fish a jerkbait. Play around with cadence even in 40 degree water I've caught fish on shorter 5-7 second pauses. Other times you needed a 20-30 second pause to get bit. It's my favorite way to catch them, nothing like a big smallmouth ripping the rod out of your hand.

Goodluck.

I fish smallmouth waters... #1 jerkbait in my box is the Pointer 78. I've got a Vision 110 jr, but its not seen a hook-up yet...

I fish a lot for smallies and a pointer 100 beats the vision 110 for size & numbers in my boat. The larger pointers like a 127 & 128 series are more productive yet for size. I don't even own a pointer 78 or a vision 110 jr for the record.

I prefer the Pointer 100, it is a better bait than the 110. The 78 is my numbers bait, it will get bit even when it isn't the best bait to be throwing. The 110 is a good bait but it isn't magic like the hype it gets, there are days when you can't beat the 110 but not often, the Pointer normally produces better quality fish and works in much lower water temps, a 110 begins to lose effectiveness once the water dips below 50 degrees.

I guess it depends on the mood of the fish and the bodies of water that you fish, because for me the 110 almost always outproduces the pointer 100. Both for smallmouth and largemouth. On the other hand the Pointer 100 and especially the 128 will in fact cull some bigger fish.

Also in colder water as smalljaw mentioned sometimes you need a bait that sits motionless like the pointers vs the slow rise of the 110. Sometimes if that seems to be making a difference I'll just add a suspend strip to the 110.

So many lures, so little time

Between the two I like the 100, better hooks, more durable, and catches tons of fish.
But my favorite is the LC Slender Pointer 97MR, 112MR, and 127MR. The action is killer for the waters I fish.

110 in old discontinued mossback yft or pro blue. I do like the pointer 78's in the spring when fishing my private community lake that's stocked with 15-24 in trout. That way there's a chance of bass or trout. I've caught 5lbers on the 78's but haven't been able to get any trout on the 110.

I like the Vision 110 but have had a lot more luck with my pointers.

I see the difference being the action of the lures. Pointer has more of a side to side/walk the dog action while the 110 has a rolling lunge kind of like a Rouge, but better. I can make the 110 dance, but not as well as a Pointer which is very erratic. I use Pointers until it gets really cold and then switch to the 110. Both have their place.

Duo Realis has some nice baits that are close to 3" that work very well.
