Looking to rebuild crank supply

Post by falcon » Sun Nov 23, 2014 12:26 am

Looking for suggestions on some crankbait brands to rebuild my supply from 6-15'. Price range I don't want to exceed $15 per bait but also don't want all jackall for example. Looking for smaller profile cranks that cast very well <2.5". Even a suggestion for a 20' crank would be nice that is <3".

I had tons of bandits that I liked and their smaller size but they don't cast all that well and hold your breathe if yoir casting into any wind. I have a list of a few im looking at just like to see what others suggest so I'm ready when TW has their Black Friday sale.

Have you purchased any custom made lures? I find they are competitive with off the shelf lures and I get what I want made the way I want it to match the hatch perfectly in my area.

Mark Houghton is one of the best.

At $9.00 the Yo-Zuri 3DB cranks are really good, they cast well and the prism colors look great in the water and the best part is the fish think so as well. The have some ribs on the bottom that Yo-Zuri calls wave motion technology and it is more marketing than anything else but I have to wonder if it helps a little as these perform well and the fish eat them. I'm sold on the 3DB and the 3DS series, the price is really good and the baits are premium, the topwaters have exceeded expectaions and the cranks are no different, work well and get bit consistently.

Yozuris are a bit to large for what I want. The relis cranks look great borderline on size I want but they look slender which would work.

I'm a big cranking guy. Here's a few of my favorites.

Rapala DT's and Shad Raps
Storm Wiggle Worts and Smash Shads and Arashi Flat
Spro Little John Series
Bomber FF Shads (also look into the squarebill DD one's too)
Strike King 3/4/5/6 and XD models of those
Jackall DD Cherry 55
Norman N Series

Spro hands down. Their baby DD is a little larger than their little john and reaches roughly 16 feet.

Comes with gamakatsu

I like cranks between two and two and a half inches. Duo baits are sweet. For shallow cranks the offerings from Evolve are hard to beat. My favorite mid depth bait at the moment is the Spro little John MD.

Save a few bucks for the new Spro "Rock Crawler". I'm hoping they get it on the shelves soon.

It seems like the price on the Lucky Craft Mini DR's has dropped from the normal $16 to $10...pretty killer cranks!!

Bagley DB2's and DB3's .. Personally, I prefer the older all brass models .. and you can still get the good crawdad colors in fishing condition for a decent price .. custom painted Pre-Rapala Wiggle Warts also still work great as well .. There several of the old school crankbaits that still constantly produce very very well.

Duo Realis for sure but I've also become very fond of the Ima Pinjack 200 and the Beast Hunter.
