Need rec on 10ft crank.

Post by dragon1 » Mon Jun 24, 2013 9:31 am

Would like a good perch and gizzard shad pattern. The bottom will be light weeds made up of mostly sand, cobble stone sized rock and broken chunk rock (gravel pit style).

What cranks from shore tend to stay in the 8-10 foot range on say 10lb mono, are of good quality and also deflect well off of the noted bottom composition? A proven fish catching action would be great as well! :big grin:

TIA.

Rapala DT 10, I know you may not want to hear that but on 10# line it runs at that depth, 12# I can touch 10' but 8' to 9' and I can drag bottom. They have 2 perch patterns, the regular perch pattern which has a brighter yellow and green along with black stripes or the more subtle and realistic,IMO, yellow perch pattern. The shad can either be the silver or pearl gray shiner, both work equally well.

I like the Little John MD also. I've fish a lot of Norman Deep Little N cranks in that range too.

I'm really liking the Spro Fat Papa 70 for this depth range right now. I'm sure it will hit 14' under the right circumstances but the way I've been fishing it 10 -11' is about the sweet spot. Using either 10 or 12# CXX these are the depth ranges I'm consistantly hitting. It's a great bait and they have some great colors so I'm sure you could find a couple that fit your needs. It has a wide wobble and deflects off cover pretty good for me, although I'm not fishing from the bank.

Deep X-200...and it doesn't pull as much with the smaller profile.

Kind hard to find these lures? Have you shopped here (they have a good color selection):

Another vote for the Rapala DT 10. You can find them pretty affordable in stores around 6 bucks a pop and they work great.
