Waking square bill crank baits
I have been trying to maximize the amount of different presentations I have with my baits to try an match conditions. I have found that the KVD squarebills in 1.5 and 2.5 wake very well on a slow retrieve.

I thought this was gonna be a post on square bills that are designed for waking as there are a bunch of those. I just picked up an OSP Heavy Hitter can't wait to throw it!! About 4 more months to go

Initially i thought it is typo, should be "walking".
Then I realized I need some education about waking a lure.
Good to know.

The best wake bait I used is a Manns Waker Elite, and the reason I like it is know matter how fast you fish it you get the wake and a good one at that. If you haven't burned a wakebait yet you don't know what you're missing and I have the Koppers wake in a bluegill model and I hate it as it dives too deep and the Bandit Footloose is the same way. Burn a good wake bait when the fish are swirlig or just slapping at topwaters and you will be rewarded.

I think i have to know how to work a wakebait.
From what you described, it must be lots of fun.

Those Ima Roumba's are the best! They're great for Smallmouth and have a high catch ratio.
Re: Waking square bill crank baits
Lots of folks around here are still tossing the Cotton Cordell Redfin. They are quirky baits, they often need tuning, don't cast too well, especially in the wind, and the hooks need changing out. But they catch fish.

Very interesting, Ima buy a few of those Cheap Pun!SmallieSmasher wrote:Those Ima Roumba's are the best! They're great for Smallmouth and have a high catch ratio.
Was always slow rolling my 1 minus, alltough they are not bad to keep the "wake" effect when it comes to a faster retrieve.
But after looking at the Roumba in action (vid on TW), definitely going to purchase a few.
Thank you
