Megabass vision 110 replacement hooks
Looking to replace the hooks on my vision 110s that make the bait suspend. I hear that the g finesse is a good one, but can’t find them anywhere in the right size. Any other options out there?
Thanks
Thanks

I like the VMC Barbarian outbarbs
Re: Megabass vision 110 replacement hooks
There are no hook replacements that make any jerkbait reliably suspend because water has different temperatures throughout the season (which makes it more or less dense, which affects suspension). Lead strips are an easier way to add weight when needed, and that will change week to week.
Case in point: the G-Finesse hooks (which should be available online for sure at places like TW) weigh exactly the same as the stock MB hooks. I use them myself because they’re awesome, but they don’t change suspension.

Pick up a tin of tungsten putty. You can make the 110 do whatever you want whether it's a horizontal slow suspend, heads up suspend, etc.
Re: Megabass vision 110 replacement hooks
Been using some hooks from ali, and they've been better than most stock hooks on jdm lures. Kinda impressed, and even pulled a 51inch musky last year using these hooks on my evergreen showblows, and none broke.

which ones? I've picked up a couple packs and they are way thicker gauge than what I expected
Re: Megabass vision 110 replacement hooks
They're indeed thicker, but pretty sticky, so it didn't matter. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001292 ... 1802kuEvhr
Re: Megabass vision 110 replacement hooks
I was just in SD fishing a trophy smallmouth/walleye lake. The stock MB jerkbait cost me 3 large fish and this isn't the first time . It's on me to not have changed them out yet, but I have been hesitant to because I don't want to turn it into a sinking bait nor do I want another weak hook like the stock hooks.Drakestar wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 3:44 pmThere are no hook replacements that make any jerkbait reliably suspend because water has different temperatures throughout the season (which makes it more or less dense, which affects suspension). What are your thoughts on hook flex on the G-Finesse hooks?
Re: Megabass vision 110 replacement hooks
Pretty sure I have always used the Owner ST-36 hooks, in size 6.
Re: Megabass vision 110 replacement hooks
I don't feel like the G-Finesse hooks flex or bend out a lot. They'll break before they bend out. That said, remember that Megabass designed the Vision 110 to be fished on 8-lbs line. 10 max. So the Megasbass and G-Finesse hooks will hold up to that, but not a ton more. (Kinda like fishing a classical Ned rig - those hooks are light-wire because a Ned is fished on light line, and they won't bend out if fished on that line and the corresponding drag.Finnz922 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 6:25 pmI was just in SD fishing a trophy smallmouth/walleye lake.
