Most fade-resistant hi-viz braid?

Post by Houndfish » Tue Aug 20, 2019 6:12 pm

I have at long last accepted that braid to leader is the only reasonable choice if I want to keep using 1000 sized spinning reels for bass fishing. I am looking for a braid that will give me the longest useful life in terms of line-watching. I am not super picky about 4 vs 8 vs whatever carrier and am looking for something in the 8-15lb (.13-.22mm) range in a bright green color.

So far I have tried J-Braid x4 and Sufix 832. Both good lines but both faded in under a season.

Anyone have a color-fast braid that they like?

They were talking about this stuff, looks like TW doesn't carry it: http://www.berkley-fishing.com/berkley- ... 16955.html

Not sure how the x5 and x9 braid compare.

I'd also recommend this: http://www.berkley-fishing.com/berkley- ... er&start=2

Reason being, I've experienced the issue of fading on flash green Seaguar Smackdown braid, and once hi-viz line fades, it's more difficult to see, hence why you're looking for one that doesn't fade I assume. As I see it, I'm not sure that there is a braid that won't fade over the course of a season. However, I've tried a line that has alternating Hi-viz/low-viz like those two Tracer lines, and that seems like it works out best for me. Even if/when it fades, the contrast between the hi-viz and low-viz sections is still stark enough that it helps me pick up my line easily in pretty much any lighting conditions. I haven't tried the Tracer lines specifically, but I imagine it would work just like the other line that I tried; plus, if Fireline is more fade resistant like Okoboji said, then it may be even better. It also gives you the option of tying your lure to one of the low-viz sections, so that it's not as visible to the fish for the last few feet of your line.

I was referring to the original Fireline flame green. I've had that line on several spinning reels for more years than I can remember without noticeable fading. I didn't like the tracer color pattern I tried... no problems with it, just didn't like it.
