I prefer McCoys xtra clear copoly for all my cranking. Great line at a great price, made here in the USA. I use 12lb for most all my cranking, unless I am throwing squarebills in and around thick cover (which I don’t do very often) then I’ll step up to 15 or 17 lb test.

16# Sunline Sniper on shallow cranks (6' or less) and squarebills.
12# Sunline Sniper on cranks deeper than 6'.
I fish around alot of grass, pads, and stumps when fishing shallow cranks and SBs.
Sniper is easy casting with excellent abrasion resistance and knot strength.

Sunline Sniper is hands down the best line I have found for Cranking. 12lb unless square billing around cover then I go up to 18lb. This stuff is tough too. I have however just spooled up with Trilene XL 12lb flouro to crank cause I got some on sale and have liked what I've got out of it so far. Very flexible and manageable.

Sniper will probably be your most popular on here for squarebill/shallow cranks. I throw the 12 lb. with the 1.5's and 14-16lb. with the 2.5's most often. There's something about Sniper that just feels right to me when I have a big fish pinned and the rod is swept back over my right shoulder :D . Sniper has just the right amount of stretch for the rods that I fish.
The Defier Armilo makes a good multipurpose line if you want to throw both topwater and cranks, and don't have multiple setups. I have the 13 lb. on a 1/2 oz. topwater rod that sometimes doubles as a shallow crank setup if I need it.

17# for squarebills, and shallow runners down to 6'. Mainly because I fish them around
12# or 14# for all cranks that run deeper than 6'.
Sniper is small diameter compared to like sized mono. 17# throws like 12#.
Excellent limpness, knot strength, and abrasion resistance.
^+1 I also use Sunline Sniper for almost all my cranking....

10 or 12 lb test Tatsu. With a fiberglass rod mono give the whole setup a little too much stretch and lack of feel but with Tatsu it has just the right amount to hook and keep fish pinned and lets me feel bottom better.
