I used to use 30# braid for throwing topwaters like walking baits, buzzbaits and whopper ploppers, but made the switch to 40# braid this year. I felt I was getting way too many wind knots w/30# braid. Honestly, I haven't noticed much of a decline in casting distance, if any, but I have noticed a huge decrease in the number of wind knots I have gotten. For walkers, I tie about a foot and a half 14-20# mono leader.

I have been using Suffix 832 camo,30lb. also using reelsnot when I spool up. Very smooth casting and seldom have a wind knot.
