50 or 60 lb Sunline FX2 Froggin' braid
50 or 60 lb Sunline FX2 Froggin' braid
Which is best for throwing hollow bodied frogs(not super thick grass)? This setup also doubles as my Carolina rig.

You mean Sunline FX2? I have both 50 and 60lb... I bought what was on sale at the time. I don't think you can go wrong with either, it's pretty granular to get into ~85% lb strength differences. I just pulled them both out and you can "see" the difference in diameter (especially with the 80lb I have!). I would say that depending upon what characteristics you're looking for go with one or the other (expect the 60 to catch wind and float a bit and expect the 50 to cut wind and dig a bit)...

50 for sparse vegetation and the 60 for heavy vegetation is the rule that most follow.

Of the options you presented, I would choose the 50#. But either should work fine..

I'd say 60 in general, especially if you're planning to use it as a main line for c-rigs: you'll want the thicker diameter when you're scraping it across rocks.

I had no problem frogging with the 50lb in even decently thick vegetation. As far as abrasion resistance goes, I never tested it to the fullest extent, since I fished it exclusively in grass.

50 pound should be good enough for what you're fishing in regularly, but if you plan on fishing other lakes in the future with a little heavier vegetation, I'd just get 60 pound. My buddy goes as high as 80 pound for flipping into the really heavy stuff.

I love Sunline FX2 for frogging. It is an awesome product. It sounds like steel cable going through the guides until you break it in. I found treating the line when it is fresh will reduce the noise and allow the braid to go through the guides a little smoother reducing the noise. I have a spool filled with each of the 50# and the 60#. I started with the 50# and have not had to use the 60# yet. If the line starts to get more than a little frayed I will re-tie. I don't have issues with dig in and the smaller diameter 50# will cast a little farther.
I don't throw a Carolina rig so your mileage may vary.

60lb is all i throw in this line with frogs. Good stuff

I prefer the 50lb here up north. I think it’s perfect for casting distance, especially needed for clearer water and sparser vegetation
