gander mountain line

Post by Finnz922 » Thu Jan 26, 2017 8:18 am

Anyone know if the Gander Mountain mono, fluoro, and braid are any good? Reviews are eh... But I found a couple of guys one saying he is pro staff claiming the fluoro is sniper.

Thoughts?

The newer Fluoro is made by Sunline IIRC, but I imagine it is a different formula than Sniper.

The fluorocarbon is really good stuff. I can't speak for the braid or mono.

There were only a few machines around the world that made fluoro lines a few years back. I think Toray was making Sunline fluoros originally, but I would guess that Sunline would have a machine or two by now. There are probably more machines now with the increasing popularity of fluorocarbon lines, but the little brands need someone to make it for them. As has been said, the fluoro is probably not exactly the same formula as Sniper, but I would like to know. I would try it if I lived near a Gander Mountain. You may like it.

I picked up 10lb 200yds of their Floro this week. They were clearing them out for $7-ish.
Although it may be a few weeks, I'll update this post when I get to testing it. I plan on using it for Neko and Shaky rig.

My understanding is that the Fluoro is akin to Super FC (It's thick compared to diameter). I have a spool of 15 and it's fine, no issues aside from being stiff, which is sort of to be expected. The 50lb braid I have is great, not too much fade and seems smoother than PP when new.
