What line to match Yumeya MG 32mm.

Post by kinniyoubi » Tue Sep 06, 2016 7:13 pm

Hi all,

I finally took the plunge and got the Yumeya 32mm MG for my XT 1000. I have not decided on the rod yet but it will most likely be from MajorCraft. Either the Volkey or Speedstyle in the 1/32 ~ 1/4 flavor. the fish I will mainly be catching is peacock bass and the lures I will mainly be using will be 2~4g hard minnows.

I am currently unsure if I should go braid or flurocarbon / mono. Do you have any suggestions on this. Also, how should I spool my reel? Monobacking > braid > fluro leader?

Thank you!

on my yumeya bfs mg spool i have a small amount of 6 or 8 lb izorline xxx backing and then spooled up with 15lb power pro mostly because i prefer the smaller diameter of the braid and allows for more line capacity. i'm mostly throwing 1/8-1/4 oz size lures with that reel. and i love that spool, really made my curado 51e feel like a different reel!

Do you think using backing is a must?

Do yall think going full 10lb sufix 832 will be too thin?

i would think so, because you won't have a ton of line on there and it might start to slip if you went straight braid. that and the spool itself is pretty slick already.

No way I'd use 10lb braid - I think you're asking for it to dig in. 15 to 20lb braid (about .008 dia) is a better choice. Although I don't have that spool, I do have a 50e with which I use braid with a short (10 yards or so) of SSN as "backing" more or less just to give a cushion and attachment to the braid. I like at least 100 yards of braid in case I get a break-off so I can still fish the reel.
