Your Most Used Line Size
Your Most Used Line Size
Wanted to know what your MOST used line size is?
Of all my setups, most of them have 12lb test of some sort, mono , floro and I don't really noticed until i started using sunline stickers that come with the line and pasting on the reels side... something I really love about sunline

Re: Your Most Used Line Size
Our bass here arent that big, so 12lb is also the norm in flouro for baitcast. I tend to stick with 6-8 flouro for spinning.
Re: Your Most Used Line Size
I prefer 10lb for small moving baits, 12lb for larger/heavier moving baits or regular bottom contact and 30-50 braid for bottom contact in serious cover.
These days that means that I use mostly 10lb.

I'm pretty sure I could use 30lb braid for absolutely everything and be pretty happy. I prefer to tie on an appropriate leader in most cases, but 30lb braid is thin enough and strong enough to work for most any application adequately.

I'm in NJ, so when I'm home, I don't often see anything bigger than six pounds. Still, I think most presentations have a line size that works best for that particular purpose, especially if you're using mono or fluoro main line. I'm trying to use braid in more situations this year, and don't use a huge range of sizes there, but the leader is still something I change according to the presentation and cover. I'm just not comfortable with a "one size fits all" approach to fishing line.

8# for spinning and 12# for casting if I was buying bulk spools for multiple reels.

7-8lb Sunline Sniper. Love the 7lb on spinning. 8lb Sniper is on all of my Pixillas.

Re: Your Most Used Line Size
For Largemouth Bass fishing it probably split right about down the middle between 10 and 12 lb. test. These two line weights encompass 90% + of my bass fishing needs. The few exceptions are going down in weight for some fineness needs (D-Shot, etc.) or up in weight for some power needs (A-Rigs, etc.).

owning almost 50 combo's, and fishing for 10+ species, I bet 30lbs braid is on 40 of those 50 combo's....
only thing I change is the strength of the flouro leader.
