I'd be willing to take you up on your offer/ challenge regarding the 10lb Maxima. To me most braids handle almost equally on baitcasting gear for bass. I prefer the abrasive ones for around vegetation. Slicker braids at night when you need to be able to hear what's popping where. The toughest by far has proven to be Fireline Tracer around barnacles and concrete. Nothing has held up to large bluefish and high teens to mid 30's around broken concrete bridge remnants like Tracer. That includes Varivas ygk and other usdm lines.

I'd prefer as thin as possible for a spinning setup that would be for long distance casting for river smallmouth.
WHich would mean the 10lb.

I grew up on 3000 yard spools of maxima chameleon and ultra green.....36$ / spool back then. Gonna see what they sell for now...lol

Where do you see those prices? With all of the tire pumping, I had assumed that this braid was surprisingly good, due to the price. At 30USD per 150, I am a little disappointed unless I am just missing it.

One important thing to mention that I have not read in this thread.
Stated pound ratings are usually nowhere even close to actual breaking strength. And I mean some lines' breaking strengths are literally twice as high as stated on the box. The ratings are all over the board. So comparing one company's 10 lb diameter to another's is useless until you factor in breaking strength.
Samurai is very close to it's box stated breaking strength while PP is way higher and thus the same rated line for PP will be thicker.
Much as with gear ratios which tell us nothing when it comes down to IPT, pronounced/marketed test ratings need further data to be able to compare line to line.

Picked up a 300m spool of the Maxima,it sure looks good.
Spooled a couple of reels,now for some testing.

Finally managed to get some time on the water with the hi vis yellow 30lb.
Fished for a total of around 12 hours
This line is good
No issues with any breakage,wind knots or knot failure.It took me a while to adjust to the small diameter,over shot a good few casts.Line is silent with a touch of memory,a pleasure to fish.Landed 13 fish with no issues.Very little if any color fading after 2 fishing sessions.
Samurai braid had mystery break offs and tip wrap issues due to being too limp.Moved onto sufix832

that fished pretty well.
The maxima is far thinner and trumps when it comes to casting distance.
Limited time out,but this looks like my new line of choice.

I bought a spool of 20lb Maxima.

Stuff looks good, smooth like Samurai, yet a little stiff like original Suffix. I am not a big fan of Samurai at all, it wrapped around my rod tip, and dug in a lot.

Can't wait to try this stuff out.

While I can't yet say it's the best braid i've ever used. So far it is very good. Time will tell after it is fully broken in though. Casts well. Knots well...and is very quiet even on an 8 foot conventional with minima guides which are very noisey with other lines.

10lb .008 handles very well on a metanium DC.

Alright fine. I'm gonna order a spool . Which Maxima braid is it?

I have now given the line an extended test,used and abused it some.
Damn this line is good!
