I mainly use mono for cranking. P Line CX Premium in 10lb (0.27mm) or P Line CXX in 8lb (0.3mm). The CX is very supple and casts a mile whereas the CXX is far more abrasion resistant.

I've used all 3 types of line for cranking and have been using fluoro for about 5 years but this year, I put Defier on my cranking rods. It cast so well, I'm thinking that I could get extra distance vs fluoro and get the bait in the zone longer. I'm giving up some sensativity but I'm hoping its not that noticible.

Mono for cranking. 12lb Suffix Siege. Tried fluoro and have gone back. I like being able to use cranks & topwaters on the same rod/reel combo.

I did the fluoro deal with a few brands ... Back to mono for me.

I change line quiet often. Probably more often than most guys or needed. I feel it helps with line memory and making sure the entire casting length of line is free of cuts regardless of line type.

Most mid grade to high end rods telegraph well enough for my needs with mono. If I feel stretch is a issue for what I'm trying to accomplish I grab a rod a power or action higher from the rod rack to compensate.

I use High Seas Grand Slam mono or Big Game mono.

It can be changed often without breaking the bank and performs fairly well given their line diameter. Notice I didn't say lb. test as they run large for the marked breaking strength. I purchase by line diameter needed for the task at hand. That goes for purchasing mono, fluoro, and braided lines. Sort of evens the playing field when comparing different line types and manufacturers.

I only crank on p-line cxx, 8lb or 12lb depending of the cover and the deep that i need.In extreme cold water when i need the maximum deep of my crankbait i go on 10lb p-line PF original which is a little bit smaller than the 8lb cxx.I use P-line copolymere for everytthing , i only use braid for Frog . I just hate the way fluorocarbon fish and cost.

I have used Sunline Defier for cranks/topwater for the last few years and I really like the line quite a bit.

Trying Sunline Defier Armilo (supposedly has less stretch) and initially I like it a lot.

I use a combo of the two lines. When I need a crankbait to go deeper I will use flouro. And Sunline Machinegun cast which is a copoly line for more sensitivity. And mono for for rattle type baits.

Sunline Defier for me...wish it came lighter than 11lb though! It's more expensive than Sufix/Trilene but it lasts longer...it's the best line I've ever used.
