Seagar Red Label
Bought some Seagar Red Label....thoughts from others who may have used it.
Re: Seagar Red Label
Many seem to like it, I didnt. I found it didn't last long I had break off issues and the abrasion resistance was no better than typical mono lines.
Re: Seagar Red Label
Good solid line, never had a problem with it at all. Cheapest everyday price I found was Walmart. Be careful though , some of that stuff sits on the shelf for a good while.

Does sitting on the shelf for a long time affect fluorocarbon?
Re: Seagar Red Label
I'm not sure but it gives people time to mess with it... I had a spool that I know was missing line.. Lol.lifeofRiley wrote:Does sitting on the shelf for a long time affect fluorocarbon?

its okay, it braided too easy in my opinion. You pay for what you get, so its not bad for the price....but sniper is way better to me

Re: Seagar Red Label
I have tried a lot of different flouro and have found red label to be excellent for the price. Yeah you can drop $30-$40 a spool for top end stuff and its good, but you would expect it to be to perfect for that price. Red label is manageable, abrasion resistant and low cost, the only knock i have on it is it is a little less dense than the higher end FC's thus making it a little less sensitive and a bit more stretch. I use it for all my moving bait presentations. I use sugui for all my slack line presentations because of it's sensitivity and i do crank with sunline, but i don't like it for anything other than that.
One thing a lot of folks don't pay attention to is the diameter vs lb rating. Avoid the lines that are thicker for a given # rating. If you look you will notice red label's diameter and line rating are on par with the very high dollar FC's

My son fishes with Red Label and loves it. I've had to use some of his Red Label in a pinch a few times, and IMHO, it's the best "lesser expensive" fluoro that I've used.

I have yet to find a reason to spend more for any fluoro over Red Label. It works and works good.

Re: Seagar Red Label
I first tried red label like 4 or 5 years ago and it seemed like i had some random breakoff issues...i steered away from it for a few years and tried it again two years ago and i feel it has gotten a lot better than when it first released.

Re: Seagar Red Label
Has anyone tried this in the 6 lb for finesse applications ? If so what are your thoughts ? Wanted to try some as a leader on top braid . ... Your thoughts are most appreciated .
Re: Seagar Red Label
I've used Red Label 6# for dropshotting, spybaits, shaky-heads and wacky-rigged weightless Senkos on spinning gear. The line passed with flying colors. It has great knot strength IMO.

That's awesome to hear, when you hear about phantom break offs it's scary to try the line after . We're you happy with the abrasion resistance ?
