Seaguar Smackdown experiences
Has anybody had a chance to compare smackdown to other premium braids? What did you like or dislike about it?
Re: Seaguar Smackdown experiences
quietest braid i've used so far, by a mile!

That sounds promising, but compared to what brands?jholton wrote:quietest braid i've used so far, by a mile!
Re: Seaguar Smackdown experiences
To answer my own question I put on some 15lb & fished it yesterday for the first time. Spooling it up I noticed how extremely smooth it is. Feels like mono. There is a clear coating applied from the manufacturer. I'm comparing the smackdown to suffix 832 & power pro super 8 slick & daiwa samurai. The smackdown is the most round & smooth of the group. Very easy casting, quiet and does not dig in on the spool. If the coating stays intact long term this line will be a pleasure to use. It is more expensive than suffix 832 & power pro super 8 but less expensive than the daiwa samurai.

How does its diameter compare to other braids of similar strength?
Re: Seaguar Smackdown experiences
Check the manufactures specs. It is smaller dia per stated lb test. The 15lb test was still smaller dia than 10lb suffix 832. It is more actual break strength to stated lbs than most other braids which break much hidher than stated lb test,Bronzeye wrote:How does its diameter compare to other braids of similar strength?

This is the info I was looking for as I recently started a thread asking about trying a NEW line that's comparable to Samurai. I will definitely be giving Smackdown a try. Thanks.dhottle wrote:Spooling it up I noticed how extremely smooth it is. Feels like mono. There is a clear coating applied from the manufacturer. Does Smackdown tend to dig in on the spool? I'm fishing 10lb. Sunline SX1 right now with a flouro leader. I'm using the drop shot with a vertical presentation in 30-35 feet of water and the SX1 doesn't peel off of the spool on a 2500 size Daiwa very well. It's not digging in, but because the SX1 doesn't have a coating, the line sticks to itself when fishing vertically. SX1 casts okay and doesn't have this problem when fished more horizontally, but I prefer fluoro when fishing horizontally in deep water anyway. Is anybody fishing the Smackdown with a vertical presentation?

I just spooled up a spinning reel with Smackdown 20 and on the 2 occasions I have used it I really like it. I am not ready to replace my Samurai just yet, but it feels better then reg power pro (by a good bit) and even pp slick 8. Give it a shot and see what YOU think about it.

My new favorite braid. I've used original Power pro, ss8, Sufix Performance braid, and 832. With limited use thus far, it seems better across the board. Kinda pricey, but most better than average lines are.

Just got myself another ci4. Now I can put my spool of Smackdown on it and test out this line.
