Smoothest and longer casting braid´s
Smoothest and longer casting braid´s
Hi guys,
Which is the smoothest, most long casting braid in your opinion? I used Power Pro and Sufix 832 of different diameters on different reels and of these two I have got to say that both are very strong but Sufix 832 is much more smoother. Which I supose help when casting.
I need to get a 20LB braid for my new Core 51. I love the Sufix 832 but what about Daiwa, Seaguar or Spiderwire braids?

Re: Smoothest and longer casting braid´s
I had Seaguar Kanzen 15# on my Okuma Helios and Core50 it was very good casting line but its downfall was its strength. I had a couple easy break-offs and so did some testing of my line got very low little over 7# to 9# with used line. Now the knots would hold palomar, uni, san diego jam but the line itself would snap. I took the line off tested the opposite unused end and got the same poor results. Just a couple days ago I retested my line and got 9#-12# before it broke.
Ive read more reviews of the line and a few others using the same 15# test had the same outcome.

I've become a really big fan of Power Pro Super 8 Slick this year. Also Suffix Performance Braid is a good casting smooth braid. I just received my first spool of 832 last week, 50# Ghost. Feels pretty smooth, I'm looking forward to trying it soon.

Suffix 832 is great value, I use it now on all my baitcasters. I tried Power Pro but only use it on spin gear now. Castaway is good braid but dearer than 832. You can get it from some of the Japanese sites at reasonable price though.

Only two I'll use for distance is Fireline Crystal or Sufix 832. They cast real well.Marcos82 wrote:Hi guys,

Samurai in 20lb wont let you down if you're fishing a leader! It's smoother and thinner than any of the other braids available in the US.Marcos82 wrote:Hi guys,

Try 17lb. Nanofil. It'll fly!
Re: Smoothest and longer casting braid´s
I've been using power pro super slick and Daiwa Samurai, pretty happy with both

What about the abrassion resistance of the Nanofil in comparison to braid. Is it better or kind of the same? Isnt Nanofil too thin to use on baitcasters?Handler wrote:Try 17lb. Nanofil. It'll fly!

nanofil is NOT abrasive resistant at all! had two spools and broke off 3 times first time out, i'll never use it again.Marcos82 wrote:What about the abrassion resistance of the Nanofil in comparison to braid. Re: Smoothest and longer casting braid´s
i was checking the diameters of the Nanofil and for example of the Sufix 832 on their respective websites and there is actually no big difference between them:
10 pound test Nanofil: 0.007 in
10 pound test Sufix 832: 0.008 in
I will stick with braid. It seems Nanofil breaks easier and has less knot strenght....
