832 Ghost?

Post by biggs » Mon Sep 12, 2011 9:48 am

Just noticed TW has 832 in Ghost. I really like the 832 I have been using so I might have to pick up a spool.
Anyone get the chance to use this colour? results? thoughts?

^ Agreed on the TT review idea. Seaguar kanzen vs. pp slick vs. sufix 832.

This 832 ghost is "designed to be less visible in the water, so fish can’t see it, while still being easily visible to the angler above the waterline." If what they say is true I'm interested, sounds perfect for line watching techniques.

First off, I think that 832 Ghost stuff will probably be something very close to Spiderwire Invisibraid in terms of invisibility.
I still am interested in trying it though.

Sounds like Ghost is still a braid...Which menas it will almost be like Nanofil.....Not sure if I want to try it. Maybe I'll see it at Cabela's and feel how the line is. White or off white line to me doesn't seem to be "invisible" (no pun intended)

If it's anything like Spiderwire Invisibraid, don't fish it in stained water unless you want that pretty white to turn awful colors.

And having your bright white fishing line turn the dingy color of the water you're fishing in is a bad thing???

Picked up a couple spools this week..
Haven't had it out on the water yet tho.

It's bright white and feels just like normal green 832. Slightly waxy and stiff straight off the spool but should soften up with a little use. Looks to be the same line minus the green dye that bleeds everywhere. No complaints here so far.. Won't have to scrub the green mess off my reels now, so that's a bonus. I'd assume it's gonna prolly change color due to stained or muddy water.. That's a good thing tho, imo.

Hoping to get out and give it a try this weekend.
Will report back if there is anything interesting or different about it compared to other braids.
As far as I can tell, it's just 832 minus the dye.

Thanks for the pic. I was starting to think the line is invisible (ghost).

The problem with braid is that it's much more visible than mono or copoly. I wonder if white is actually more visible underwater than dark green.

Can wait to hear an update on it. I love the green, but if I can use white and color it whatever color I want even better.

PaBass75's view on this line seems right on.. It is white on the spool and somewhat stiff. I spooled some 20# on my Sol and cast it a bit and it does hold smallish loops.. I sprayed it with some of KVD's magic goo and it smoothed right out. When I KVD'd the green 832 the dye came off the line like I had dosed it with paint thinner.
20# is damn thin but I believe I recall Doug Hannon saying years ago that a Bass cannot visually resolve anything thinner than a nickle. Tied an Invisx leader on it anyway. Tomorrow I'll see how it fishes..

Fished the 832 Ghost in 20# today. I found it to be stiff, and raspy, much like Spiderwire Invisibraid. It is clearly visable underwater. After a few hours of fishing it seemed to lose some of it's grittyness, but lift to sit while I fished another rod it seemed to get gritty again. It does not act anything like 832 in green.
I'll fish a few more times to see it it softens and smooths a little, if not, it goes in the spool filler bin.
Regular 832 is very nice line, not as smooth as Samari, but a tad more abrasion resistant....

I used the "invisibraid" once...was sorely disappointed in the high visibility white. I found the best solution to visibility with braid is to color it. The Spiderwire camo hid well AFAIC.

Of course, after fishing Samurai braid, it is so hard to go back to anything else.

Other than power pro, white or "clear" braids always seem a little stiffer than the rest IMO. Also, never even close to the transparency of mono/fluoro under the water, and this line sounds like it falls along the same lines [-(
