Re: braid for frogging?
thanks guys for the suggestions! thinking about going with diawa samuri braid in either 55lb or 70lb
Re: braid for frogging?
I've always been a Power Pro guy myself. I've tried some of the Suffix braid before, but didn't really care for it. For frogging and flipping both, I will use 65 lb PP. On my 2nd frogging rod, which I use in a little less thicker cover, I will switch to 50 lb PP because I can get away with making a longer casts and still not be afraid of breaking big fish off.
Have any of you guys tried the new Sunline FX2 braid?

Boods...
I fished 30# PP last year on a 735 Dobyns and had a couple bigguns break me off in the thick stuff ... I am trying some 50# FINS braid this year... so far it looks really good! Good to see ya here on TT!

Re: braid for frogging?
I have 65 pound Power Pro on my frogging reel right now but that is because I have a gigantic spool of it. If I had it to do all over again, I would be using the 70pound Samurai. Nevertheless, the Power Pro has worked fine for me (this is mostly on the California Delta).

Thanks for the warm welcome!big tom wrote:Boods...Good to see ya here on TT!
I have never had any problems with PP breaking, but am willing to maybe venture out and try some new stuff. I have all PP on my braided reels right now, but there is a possibility of a mid season switch to check out some other brands. We will see though!

Re: braid for frogging?
I've got 55 lb. Samurai, but picked up it and my frog rod way too late to try last year. Haven't been fishing yet this year.
Also have 40 lb. Sufix Performance on another rod that I've been told would work for frogs in the area where I live. It was purchased for the purpose of using jigs, but I'll have to give it a try with frogs just to satisfy my curiosity.

Powerpro or Suffix in 50 or 65lb. Those are what I have always used. I am however going to try either the Spiderwire Fluorobraid or the Suffix 832 whenever I can make my mind up.

Re: braid for frogging?
I've been looking for braided line in BLACK for frogging. Does anybody know a quality manufacturer that makes their braid in black? I've seen plenty of dark green and brown, but not black.
Re: braid for frogging?
good to know. wondered if fluorobraid sank but didn't think 832 would. thanks can probably rule both those two out.froteur wrote:832 sinksFinnz922 wrote:Powerpro or Suffix in 50 or 65lb.
