Fake Power Pro

Post by ClearCreek » Sat Mar 19, 2011 4:06 pm

A couple years ago there was some information going around regarding a company (in China I think) that was producing a line that looked like Power Pro and even the packaging was almost identical to the original Power Pro. If I remember correctly the Power Pro website had a news release on this and how to tell the fake from the original. Now I can't seem to find much info on this - I went to the Power Pro website and nothing there now on this issue. Not much from a Google search either.

So, my questions are this:

Does anyone know how to tell the difference in the packaging between the fake and original?

Was the fake made in all lb. test sizes?

Was the fake available in all spool sizes, i.e. 150 yds, 300 yds, 1500 yds.?

With all the expertise on this site someone has to be familiar with the issue......

Haha, I don't think it's a counterfeit. It's probably a bad batch that they're trying to play off. PP's reputation is horrible among offshore anglers :D

I agree. Mysterious break offs. That is why I switched to Tuff-Line XP. Jim
