Copolymer question

Post by jiggerjake » Sat Mar 12, 2011 7:12 am

I've decided to switch over from braid to copolymer line for throwing/ripping 1/2oz.traps in and around shallow grass. What size would you recommend for this? Can I get by with 15#? Going with McCoy if it matters.

15# would be more than enough for me.

If I'm wanting to run the trap just above the grass and not have to rip it much- I use 17 lb Excaliber, I think the heavier line keeps the trap from sinking as fast. I'll use 12 lb Ex to let it drop more.

15 Copoly is a good all around size. I use 15 most of the time for traps. I'll use 12 Fluro if I'm fishing them deep and 17 or even 20 Copoly if I'm fishing very shallow grass beds.

For weeds, at least .013" - .014" diameter.
