Sunline Super FC Sniper

Post by Micropterus salmoides » Fri Mar 11, 2011 8:01 am

How good is the newer formula of FC Sniper? I see a lot of pros, like Brent Ehrler, using FC Sniper and wonder if it's the same stuff that can be purchased at TW, or if he (they) is getting a better formula direct from Japan.

P.S. Did the price of FC Sniper recently go down? I thought it was $30+ for a 200 yard spool last year.

I just bought a spool of #16 and it feels really good. Fairly low memory. I only got to cast it in the yard a few times. I have no idea if the pros are getting a different recipe...

It is the same price. You might be thinking of Shooter.

Isn't shooter more expensive?

Yes.
I love Sniper for all my finess aplications.

There is probably know way to find out weather Pros get the same formula line the rest of us do. Try not to let paranoia creep up on you.

You didn't say what kind of reel you were putting this line on, so just throwing this out there. I tried the Super FC Sniper and the regular Super FC on my Stella spinning reel late last year/early this year. Both were terrible for line twist on any kind of bait that could rotate. I think it's a good line, but I won't use it on a spinning reel anymore.

I wouldn't use ANY FC on a spinning reel. I won't even use YZH.

I use 4-5lb shooter on spinning before and it was fine, but i would not go any high on spinning gear unless its for leader material.
