Co-Poly Shootout ?

Post by mike_honcho » Mon Feb 28, 2011 8:06 am

[quote] "The Natural"Oh, and by the way...will TT please do a mono/copoly shootout? We need Yozuri Hybrid and Ultrasoft, Pline CXX, Big Game, Stren, McCoys, etc. versus each other in a Shootout! I use fluoro on all my feel rods, but use Copoly on my spinnerbait, topwater, shallow crank, etc. rods[quote]

I saw this idea posted on an old thread and thought it was a GREAT idea. I would also like to see the comparison of fluoro to co poly. The fluorocarbon shootout was great but I think it can definately be taken a step further seeing as how there are so many different lines out there. It would be nice to see some real data as opposed to each line maufacturer claiming there line is the best. Since the Fluoro shootout if I was thinking of trying another line I would always refer to that thread to see if it was in the line up. Some will say just try the line for yourself but line can be very pricey as everyone knows. Plus if you don't like the line it just ends up be wasted.(Money down the drain). On that note Thank you very much TT for doing the Fluorocarbon shootout and hope you will do a Co-Poly shootout in the near future. [-o<

I was one that posted quite a while back about a test similar too the Fluorocarbon Shoot-Out. I wanted to see how CXX would fair against the rest. It generated quite a bit of interest by the members, however it was never done. Jim

Please include Silver Thread's Excalibur if you can. I've used this line for years and it has never let me down.

A mono, Co-Poly shootout would be great. There is a bunch of information out there but most is fairly old and not done with the thoroughness that Tackle Tour did for example in their fluro shootout

I love this idea. Only problem is I already know the outcome... P-Line Flouroclear. (different from P-Line Flourocarbon)

We might even need further subcategories. I for one, would love to see some ASSO lines.

Finesse lines
High abrasion resistant lines.
slip bobbing is the laziest way to fish

I don't know if Berkley's Hi-Test (Big Game) is a co-poly but would guess that it is. I purchased a spool recently of 10# test. Was surprised that knotless it tested at 15#. That is a greater percentage increase than my Big Game lines in 12# and 15# test.

The 10# test is labelled as 0.011" diameter, but my mike says a little under 0.012".

For comparison my 12# original Stren is labelled as 0.013" diameter but mikes at 0.0135". But the 12# Stren breaks knotless at 14#.

if we have a copoly shootout, you've got to include lake fork fluorohybrid pro... hands down the best copoly i have fished. similar to Defier from Sunline in abrasion resistance, water resistance, uv resistance, handling and shock resistance. doesn't float like defier does though but makes for one of the best reaction bait and flipping lines i have fished.

it is expensive but a spool lasts much longer than other copoly lines. before i fished it, i was a CXX user. it is just as strong as CXX diameter for diameter, abrasion resistant, shock resistant and with none of the handling issues of CXX.
