Red Zillion SV TW 1000.
Red Zillion SV TW 1000.
This Chinese market getting better colored reel than us US market. Another salamandura red, this time with Zillion platform but xtra with carbon handle and skeleton knob. Still price is over $300 though. If the price come down to around JDM zillion < 250 I might got one to match my silver zillion and black HD.

Looks good! Wonder if the colors with mismatch finishes like the TW HD does. It has the shiny black metal side plates/frame, then a more matte black on that plastic cover. That is still the only dislike I have about the new Zillions...
Re: Red Zillion SV TW 1000.
I saw yesterday that the SLP Works store on Amazon has their Zillion without the spool and handle for $206 in right 7.1. I almost pulled the trigger because I have lots of spools and handles. I'm not in love with the black or the silver Zillions. The matte black just looks cheap to me.
Re: Red Zillion SV TW 1000.
To me the Zillions are great reels, but the Alphas nose piece that is metal and part of the frame just feels more solid. It is nice to have in winter and doesnt get so cold, but it feels cheap. Just an odd design choice because the Zillions are very rigid and have metal under that piece, so why not just shape it like the Alphas version?
Re: Red Zillion SV TW 1000.
Really hard to tell from the picture if mismatched hood on this one. I wonder where can we just get just the parts. Last time I have a friend contact Daiwa Malaysia with no success. May be red hood would look better on HD instead of flat black?

Sweet looking reel
Re: Red Zillion SV TW 1000.
What kind of a sane person uses a quality carbon handle with that kind of nut retainers?

It looks like one of those cheap chinease handles that sort of look like an RCS carbon. Still the plastic nut retainer is dumb. I bet Daiwa got a lot of negative feedback from the US about the colored nut retainers and that pushed then to just use plastic retainers on their non enthusiast reels.

The paint on my Salamadura Air has proven very durable so far while beating the bushes around my little ponds. This appears to be the same paint. I sort of wish it had a black glossy frame like my reel, though.

I know exactly what chinese carbon handle you're referring to, i have three, and they are not it. This is the proper RCS handles without RCS 90 written on them. Same as the PX68 Alphas Type R and air stream custom handles.LowRange wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 8:38 amIt looks like one of those cheap chinease handles that sort of look like an RCS carbon. The faceplate/engine covers on the old TDZ, TD Zillion, and TD Fuego reels love to peel and/or turn gold. I have replaced quite a few over the years. They were around $12 the last time that I bought a few. I keep telling myself to sand and paint a few, but I never seem to have time. The black cover in the picture is off, but it's not nearly as bad as the older faceplate issues. I am going to do a flat black when I get around to it. My second 50th TD Zillion faceplate is looking ragged. I may do red on that one.

The px68 and air stream custom handles were 80mm.

This 'red' zillion is actually burgundy. Not sure that would look good on your HD with those bright red anodized parts.

Yea i know. Just referring to the build quality. It might look similar to a certain chinese handle, but when you have em side by side, there's a big difference.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 11:43 amThe usdm zillion type r had the same 90mm handle as this red zillion.SSS wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 1:47 pmI know exactly what chinese carbon handle you're referring to, i have three, and they are not it.
