New pixy

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

New pixy

Post by Polkfish1 » Fri Mar 01, 2024 10:59 am

So nobody here is posting about the new Pixy coming out? So many posts over the years from people hoping for one. I just saw some photos on Instagram, but can’t figure out how to post. Looks kind of like the newest Alphas. If anyone knows more, please post

Edit: https://daiwa.us/collections/reels

Also, should have posted this under reels

Looks and reads absolutely identical to the 2020 Alphas Air TW. Same paint job, same anodized red parts. Just a longer handle

Wanted to make a thread about it a few weeks ago when i originally saw it, but then i aked myself what's the point? A Pixy is: Finnesse speced, colorful and made out of magnesium. What are we getting this time around? An Alphas from years ago. That is not how you revive an OG, Daiwa. And considering how popular BFS is becoming, this is the perfect time to reintroduce the Pixy to the Japanese market.

This is just a rebranded Alphas Air TW. [-(
I really enjoy my alphas air tw, but no way would I pay that much for one. I guess Daiwa just got lazy. Do they really think the average US angler usnt aware of JDM offerings? Even Bassmaster magazine and Jay Kumar's Bass Blaster talks about JDM tackle all the time.

"Corporatized" rebadging...

Like the Mexican Banditos said on Blazing Saddles..."badges?...we don't need no stinkin' badges!".
"It is like a finger pointing away to the Moon...don't concentrate on the finger, or you will miss all of that heavenly glory."

It's an Alphas Air for the US market. Daiwa doesn't call Alphas, Alphas in the US because we can't handle the name and end up calling it an Alpha. Sol, SV105 and now PX are the USDM Alphas reels.

How about another Tatula. The new BF 70 is coming. That makes 12 Tatulas listed on Daiwa's web sight.

Why 70? Let get it straight Daiwa, don’t get me wrong I like Daiwa, sold most Shimanos. Stop trying to be Shimano for just one second, please.

They have had the 70 for 3 years now. The tatula 80 is standard. The tatula 70 is the sv version of the 80. Speaking of, I figure they may release the alphas tw as a Pixy 80 here in the US. Hoping for some ltd versions of this "new pixy".

This is based on the Alphas Air TW, not the tatula 70/80 frame.

The new Tatula BF 70 is already available on Tackle Warehouse. It has a BFS spool.

$350 for an alphas air TW!!!

This is almost as bad as the $750 US Steez you can get from JDM retailers for about half.

Daiwa is just insulting our intelligence at this point.

Yeah understand that since I owe one of the SV70 (salamandura) myself, but calling Alphas Air a BF 70 is kind of redundant. Is it 70 size reel or BFS?
