Daiwa Tatula 300 Question

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

I like the gomexus metal 6 point stars for my new reel zaion star swaps. Classic reels still get the RCS short and long arm stars.

I’ve got one on the way. Should look pretty good - an oversized star on a big reel.

Just a heads up- the Gomexus drag stars won’t fit a 300 without machining the nut or the star itself.

Oh dang, thanks for the heads up.

Is the 300 nut larger than other reels?

Yeah. I guess the easier route is to just install an older style nut and be done lol. The 300 nut is a hair taller as well but the smaller one works fine. Got the star installed now.

Same handle shaft diameter but a bigger nut. Daiwa is weird sometimes.

Does anyone happen to know the proper size for the handle?

My 300 just arrived and I can't figure out if its 7x4mm or 8x5mm?

I see that some Tatula are 8x5mm but I don't know if that applies to all of them (and I don't have my calipers handy)

Thanks
simplest way to remember the rule of thumb, shimano is 7x4, daiwa is 8x5. afaik it’s always been this way and there hasn’t been any exceptions to it.
except shimanos 300 size and larger use 8x5
