Normal for Daiwa rotor to feel "sticky" with bail up?
Normal for Daiwa rotor to feel "sticky" with bail up?
Something I've noticed on my new Daiwa BG 4000 spinning reel: When the bail is flipped up, the air rotor does not rotate freely. It feels "sticky" when it turns with the bail up. Is this normal?

If you mean you're trying to turn the handle in order to flip the bail from cast position to retrieve position, then yes. There is a ramp under the rotor that is SUPPOSED to trip the bail, but you should never use it that way. Flip the bail over by hand after the cast. If you do it with the handle, it's a good way to introduce line twist. It's bad enough on an eggbeater without adding more line twist unnecessarily.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

That's the brake to stop the rotor from turning and tripping the bail during casting motion.

And hoohoorjoo is also spot on...tripping the bail by handle rotation also wears out the bail assembly and associated parts faster.
