Has the BG been replaced?

I was looking to build a second bulletproof combo for river wading/kayak fishing using a BG 2500 with a 7 foot MF Rebellion rod (hey it's pretty). However all the little BGs are gone, and the big boys are dwindling in numbers. However the new aluminium kid on the block Procyon AL is filling some of the holes. Are they phasing out the BG?

Not sure if they're getting phased out for the procyon, but there is a new BG MQ LT out that I'd guess would be the replacement if the old bg is indeed being phased out.

Did a quick run through of a few on line retailers and there are some available. Sizes from 1500 all the way up...???

Well I am in Canada, and cannot find anything below 3000 size. I read another thread that mentioned smaller sizes getting rare up here at least

Tackle Warehouse has a 2000 in stock. J and H Tackle has a 2500 in stock. A couple of others, too. You should be able to order on line.

Tackle Trap has the 2500 and 3000 size 2021 BG MQ in stock. I haven't fished one yet, but it's a very nice, solid feeling reel.

The BG has been a very successful reel for Daiwa! I think they are just having trouble filling orders, there's nothing as good in that price range!
