The Daiwa Luna 300 version1.

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

The Daiwa Luna 300 version1.

Post by Ripley » Sun Aug 30, 2020 3:25 pm

Just found a lightly used one that was packed away some time ago.

Seems to have been discontinued for an upgraded version.

Any info regarding faults, issues or general opinions welcomed.

I bought it on a whim and it appears now obsolete.

Arrrggghh!

What a stupid mistake I have made.

The reel I mean is a LEXA.

The Luna is a nice reel too :-).

Well I will answer my own question :-)

I tore down the Lexa 300, because from being new that slop in the drive shaft irritated me.

Custom cut carbontex washers and lube saw the rebuilt reel feel twice as good.

I cannot see why the big change to stainless gears as the enormous brass gear surely
would survive long after the level wind or cast frame would surrender to some monster of the deep.

Seems an OK reel for what I paid which was much less than the newer version goes for.
