Which one?
Re: Which one?
I’ve got 20 Metaniums on all my rods EXCEPT my NRX 852c. I got a alde 30 mgl hg & it seems like that rod/reel combo was made for each other, good balance & stupid light

Anyone?
I ordered 2 from Japan
Re: Which one?
Scroll down this page. All signs point to the US and JDM versions having the same spool (70 or otherwise)

Yeah I seen that, some say it is shallow while others say its not.Aquaftm45 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 6:10 pmScroll down this page. All signs point to the US and JDM versions having the same spool (70 or otherwise)

I've also read that the knobs are different.
Re: Which one?
So did you ever try your Bantam on you 2 power Loomis rods? If so did it feel good to you?

Re: Which one?
I don't know if it's more shallow or not, but the 20 Metanium holds roughly 74 yards of 16lb Toray Superhard Upgrade, so it holds plenty of line.BRONZEBACK32 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 10:52 amYeah I seen that, some say it is shallow while others say its not.Aquaftm45 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 6:10 pmScroll down this page. Re: Which one?
I sent Bronzeback those pictures as I now have several 2020 metaniums of the various USDM and JDM flavors.
To put it lightly, the USDM and JDM reels perform very differently. I will try to sum up my experiences here.
All USDM model spools are ~10.5mm deep and all JDM spools are ~7mm deep.
All USDM model handles are 100mm (or 110 cant remember for sure) in length.
For JDM models, the 6.2 and 7.1 gear ratio models have shorter (I believe 90mm) handle lengths than USDM. How ever, the 8.1 gear ratio JDM model has the longer handle that you get in the USDM model.
All USDM models have larger handle knobs than the JDM models.
For me, I much prefer the JDM spool size for all applications. As such, I have replaced all my USDM models with JDM spools that I ordered from jun at Japan tackle. He was great to work with.
For finesse applications, the USDM spool was awful. The amount of 10 lb. Tatsu line that spool held was egregious. Also, it required pretty much all brakes to be turned on, very aggressive dial settings, and light baits ultimately went nowhere. The JDM spool on the other hand was a very different story. Much better casting performance and easier to manage overall.
For casting braid, the differences weren’t as bad as finesse applications but still very noticeable. Again, the amount of 30 lb. braid held on the USDM spool could drain a wallet quickly. Also, you can just hear the amount of friction when casting that much braid. Again the JDM spool was much nicer and better performaning.

Have you tried the Yumeya shallow spool in either ?
I have one in my Bantam and I think it performs much better than the stock spool over all
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible
Re: Which one?
Seriouly. SSS you're right. Seems like Everything Daiwa makes now is some form of a tatula. I've been a Daiwa guy for 40 years, but I would have to buy a met at this point and time.
Re: Which one?
Interesting to say the least. Thanks for the clarificaion. Now if we could get Diawa JP and Diawa US websites to post accurate information we would all be in the know...CFDoc wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 7:41 amI sent Bronzeback those pictures as I now have several 2020 metaniums of the various USDM and JDM flavors.
