New Curado 70 mgl K
Re: New Curado 70 mgl K
I’m a little disappointed that it gained .4 oz over the 70, but am excited about the new mgl spool. I have done the micro module gear swap on my 71hg from the engetsu and it is quite smooth and even has the clicker functionality.
I am curious if the new mgl spool uses the 2nd gen svs infinity system.. hopefully it’ll be a direct swap into the 70

I will be pairing this new XG 70 with a GLX 842 for an all-around medium rod. Should be a blast for weightless senkos.
Personally I am not a fan of the color scheme. It is not going to match most rods very well. The older 70 would look good on a much wider variety of rods.

I’m glad they kept the original body style of the 70 as it’s probably one of the most comfortable reels for my hand. MM gears, better spool and a few extra bearings is a worthy upgrade. I’ll be getting one to fit in between the aldebaran 30 and Metanium.

I understand just fine, thanks for your concern.

Re: New Curado 70 mgl K
It kind of is, now that it has all the tech of the K. Older version was a 70 sized I series since it contained the same tech. It’s just a description, not a big deal.
Re: New Curado 70 mgl K
So if they re-release the Curado I with MM gears as the 2021 Curado K, you will be ok with that?

Re: New Curado 70 mgl K
They did the exact same thing several times in the past. The Curado 100B was re-released as the Curado 100D and Citica 100D. The Curado 50E was re-released as a Chronarch 50E. The Curado 200 E became the Chronarch 200 E. The Curado 300DSV became the 300E. Each time, it was either solely a paintjob, or superficial changes like drag star composition or a single bearing in place of a bushing. There is a lot of that going on in all avenues of manufacturing, not just fishing equipment.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

It is a fine practice I just find it offensive that they think they can just change the pait color and pretend it is a new generation of reel. Just call it what it is. We're not stupid. It's a refreshed Curado 70I. That is a great addition and little overdue but thanks. The second they called it a new platform, Curado K based 70 reel, I was off the bandwagon.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 9:47 amThey did the exact same thing several times in the past. Re: New Curado 70 mgl K
I could honestly care less what a company calls something. They could call it the 3030 Curado X and it would make no difference to me. The fact is that when they make changes to a reel, they don’t just give it a trendy name like CT or MGL or whatever, they make it a new version/platform(which the letter shows)so it’s not confusing. If they aren’t selling the previous version anymore, the 70I is no more and the new version with improvements is the K version. It’s just a name.

I am confused by this. Do you or do you not realize that this is not a new platform?JBcrankaddict wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 10:33 amthey make it a new version/platform(which the letter shows)so it’s not confusing. New spool, new gears, more bearings, same frame. Would it make you feel better if they called it a Curado 70++?LowRange wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 10:40 amI am confused by this. Exactly. It is different! Same frame, new tech.smalljaws wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 10:51 amNew spool, new gears, more bearings, same frame. Re: New Curado 70 mgl K
Personally, I’m glad they didn’t change the frame. Just like they didn’t change the Aldebaran frame when they updated. The 70 frame is very comfortable to palm, and see no reason to change a frame just to add in the new tech.
Re: New Curado 70 mgl K
It is the 2020 Shimano Curado 70i MGL. They could leave the i out and call it a Curado 70 MGL. Calling it a k reel is misleading.smalljaws wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 10:51 amNew spool, new gears, more bearings, same frame.
